Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the actions taken by Rubbish Removal Sutton to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We are committed to conducting our business in an ethical and responsible manner and to upholding the rights and dignity of all individuals who work with or for us.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Rubbish Removal Sutton provides waste and rubbish removal services to residential, commercial, and public sector clients. Our activities include the collection, transportation, and responsible disposal or recycling of waste materials. Our supply chain primarily consists of vehicle and equipment suppliers, waste transfer and recycling facilities, fuel providers, and labour agencies that may supply temporary or specialist staff.
We recognise that certain parts of the waste management and logistics sectors can be vulnerable to exploitation, particularly where low-skilled, temporary, or migrant labour is involved. As such, we take active steps to identify and manage these risks.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
Rubbish Removal Sutton has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, debt bondage, and any form of child labour. We will not knowingly engage with or support any organisation involved in such practices. Our zero-tolerance stance is communicated to employees, contractors, and suppliers as a fundamental condition of doing business with us.
Any breach or suspected breach of this policy is treated with the utmost seriousness and may result in termination of contracts, reporting to relevant authorities, and the implementation of corrective actions to protect affected individuals.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers and contractors to operate in full compliance with applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws. As part of our supplier onboarding and ongoing management, we assess the risk of modern slavery within our supply chain and prioritise closer scrutiny for higher-risk categories such as labour providers and waste processing facilities.
Our approach includes requesting confirmation of modern slavery policies and procedures, conducting due diligence checks on ownership and labour practices, and, where appropriate, undertaking audits or site visits to verify working conditions. These audits may include interviews with workers, checks on working hours and pay records, and verification of age documentation.
If non-compliance is identified, we seek to work collaboratively with suppliers to address issues within a defined timeframe. Where improvements are not achieved or serious abuses are found, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Rubbish Removal Sutton encourages all employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or human trafficking. Concerns may include signs of coercion, restricted freedom of movement, withholding of wages or identity documents, or unsafe and degrading working conditions.
Reports can be made directly to line managers, to a designated senior manager responsible for compliance, or via our confidential whistleblowing channel. Reports may be made anonymously and will be treated with sensitivity and without fear of retaliation. All reports are investigated promptly, and appropriate action is taken, which may include engaging law enforcement or specialist support organisations.
Training and Awareness
We provide guidance and training to relevant staff, especially those involved in procurement, recruitment, and on-site supervision, to help them recognise indicators of modern slavery and understand how to respond. Awareness raising is incorporated into induction for new employees and refreshed periodically.
Monitoring, Annual Review, and Continuous Improvement
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by the leadership of Rubbish Removal Sutton to ensure it remains effective, relevant, and aligned with legislative requirements and best practice. As part of the review, we evaluate any incidents, audit findings, supplier feedback, and changes in risk within our sector.
We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to preventing modern slavery, including enhancing due diligence processes, strengthening supplier engagement, and updating training materials. Updated versions of this statement will reflect any significant developments in our policies, procedures, or risk assessments.
This statement has been approved by the management of Rubbish Removal Sutton and represents our ongoing commitment to combating modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our business.
